Cat Topia began building catios in 2018 in Denver, Colorado, and expanded to nationwide services in 2019. The idea for Cat Topia started with two friends, Lance Harding and Sky Davis. In 2017, Sky, a busy professional with two cats, noticed his pets were bored and lacked enrichment. With limited time to engage and play with them due to work and family commitments, he wanted a solution that would keep his cats happy and stimulated, even when he wasn’t home.
That’s when Sky and Lance decided to collaborate on a fun project: building a catio for Sky’s cats. They constructed what would unknowingly become the first-ever Cat Topia catio. Over time, Sky noticed how much his cats enjoyed the catio, showing increased affection and engagement. The outdoor space allowed his pets to experience enrichment, transforming their routine and enabling them to thrive rather than just survive.
Recognizing that many cats could benefit from this type of enrichment, Lance and Sky started building custom catios throughout Colorado in 2018.
